Construction and Design

Wartime Service
From 1942 to 1946, the Lurline was requisitioned for military service during World War II, serving as a troopship and carrying military personnel wherever required.
Post-War Service
Following the war, the vessel underwent a refit from 1946 to 1948 to restore her to passenger service. Under Matson Line ownership, she provided regular passenger service with accommodations for 800 passengers - 550 in first class and 250 in second class.
Later Years
The vessel was eventually sold to Chandris Lines and renamed Ellenis, though the date of this transaction is not recorded.
