Mulcra
The Mulcra was a steel motor vessel built in 1925 by Svendberg Skbs & Msk in Svendborg, Sweden. Constructed under order number 137236, she would serve multiple roles throughout her career, from coastal cargo vessel to wartime ammunition carrier.
Early Service
On July 1, 1935, Mulcra was recorded at Port Adelaide under the command of Master B.H. Buck. By 1942, she was owned by the Adelaide Steamship Company, operating as an intrastate cargo vessel.
Wartime Service
During World War II, the vessel was requisitioned by the United States Army, serving as an ammunition carrier in the South West Pacific theater from 1942 to 1946. After the war, she was returned to the Adelaide Steamship Company.
Later Years
Mulcra continued in commercial service until 1961 when she was sold. The vessel was subsequently renamed La Trinidad in 1964, and in 1973 became Andes before being renamed Tasanee.
